Farmshop & Deli

bath deliOur Deli and Cider Bar

We pride ourselves on placing a spin on a traditional delicatessen, here you will find a culmination of local, artisanal produce mixed with some imported hand picked products from the rest of Europe. Ranging from Cheese, bread, olives and through to gluten free biscuits, organic fruit drinks.

The Cheese Counter is run by Nick Horwood, a Cheesemonger and Affineur (Cheese Specialist) for over Four years. Working in Deli’s, wholesale and export of cheese to over 52 countries in the world.

In the counter you will find Local cheeses such as Wyfe of Bath and Baronet. We also have imported cheeses going direct to the makers including Seggiano’s Pecorino with Black Italian truffle and 16 month Manchego, one of several cheeses we age ourselves in-house for longer than you buy else where, meaning you get a unique and special experience when you buy cheese from the Shed.

We also specialize in Charcuterie and fresh meat. Our charcuterie is hand sliced and you will find a range of Wild boar Salami from the Chianti countryside to the acorn eating Black hoof pigs of the Iberian pinnsula of Spain. We also offer meat from local free-range Duroc breed pigs from Melksham, as well as having our seasonal orchard reared free range Oxford Sandy and black pigs and Lamb from Brittons Farm Estate.

On our shelves you will find a range of locally made chutneys, chocolates, fudge and roasted coffee; all coming from Bath or Bradford on Avon. Hand made soaps and toiletries from Portugal. On the central floor you will find Handmade Local Sourdough breads from Winsley while our seasonal fruit and veg all comes from one farm; a stones throw away in Northend. We also appreciate the importance of Gluten Free for our customers, with a range of hampers and on-shelf items ranging from chocolate chip cookies, cheese biscuits, pasta and gnocchi, through to fresh bread made in Farrington Gurney (pre-order only).

Along with providing great local produce, we also specialise in Cider, Craft Beer and Wines.

As a long-standing site for cider making, The Shed felt it only right to continue the tradition of selling local cider. With ever expanding lines, already at 25 kinds of Cider (which we have regular tastings and encourage “try before you buy”), you will see the likes of Handmade Cider Company (Dennis being one of the original cider makers on this site) from Slaughterford, Honey’s Midford and the infamous Black Rat from Moles in Melksham. We also like to keep the rustic charm with our 2 litre still cider being served for takeaway in plastic Milk bottles.

We have over 30 kinds of Beer and Lagers. All of which come from local small breweries. From a nice English lager such as Aviator from Cotswold Spring, through the natural flavours of Willy Good Ales, to finish with the hoppy and distinct Wiper and True brewery.

We hand pick our wines which number at around 35 varieties, and changing seasonally. Using a Bath based importer means that we can easily change and select wine, choosing only small producers from around the globe. Our selection includes biodynamic wines from South Africa, Organic reds from Spain and quirky wine varieties like Pinot Noir produced in Patagonia.
